Math
Practice identifying coins, coin combinations, and counting with coins in these introductory lessons and resources.
Lesson Plans
- An Introduction to Coins: Using real or paper coins, students will discuss what they know about coins, coin values, and place their coins in value order.
- For Sale!: After reading an appropriate children's math text, students will review same type (denomination) coin sets, and will build same type sets equaling fifty cents.

Coins and the Mint
Introduce students to the U.S. Mint, its history, and how coins are made with these resources.
Lesson Plans
- An Introduction to Coins: Using real or paper coins, students will discuss what they know about coins, coin values, and place their coins in value order.
- Battle of the Coins: Students will observe the physical attributes, such as size, height, weight, and length, of coins. Students will play a game to compare coins to one another.
- Coin Motion: Students will recognize coins and their values and count coin groups.
