New Mint Catalog Highlights Holiday Collection — Quarter Eagle Reverse Featured For Last Time Until 2009

Washington, D.C. — The annual catalog now available from the U.S. Mint by mail and on the Mint’s website at www.usmint.gov introduces the 1998 Holiday Collection, featuring the new Dolley Madison Commemorative Silver Dollar designed by TIFFANY &CO.®.

“Our collaboration with TIFFANY &CO.®, and the new gift and jewelry items we’ve created using historic coins and Proof Platinum Eagles, make this year particularly noteworthy,” said Mint Director Philip N. Diehl. “We’re also previewing the first five designs for the 50 States Quarters Program, and sharing our planned website improvements due for the near future.”

Publication of the Mint’s Holiday Catalog has become a major numismatic event each year, highlighting special collectible sets, increasingly popular coin jewelry and the Mint’s Holiday Ornament.

The Dolley Madison Commemorative Silver Dollar, celebrating one of the nation’s most famous first ladies, is available at pre–issue discount prices of $33 for the proof coin, $30 for the uncirculated coin, and $59.95 for the Proof and Uncirculated Set, through February 8. Proceeds from sales of the coin are authorized to be used by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to maintain Montpelier, James and Dolley Madison’s Virginia home.

As an added customer service, the Mint picks up the shipping on any in–stock item anywhere in the United States for guaranteed holiday delivery; customers should order by November 20. Expedited delivery via Express Mail is available for $7.95 for orders up to $100, and for $12.95 for orders of $100 or more. The deadline for expedited holiday delivery is December 20. (Please note: shipping of the Dolley Madison Silver Dollar will begin on January 8, 1999.)
