The Story

The subject of the eighth quarter in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program is Olympic National Park. The park contains many environments, such as coastline, mountains, valleys, meadows, lakes, and forests.

More than 70 miles of Pacific Ocean beaches fall within the park’s boundaries. Olympic was first established as a national site on February 22, 1897.

This nearly 1 million-acre park protects ecosystems that have remained almost untouched. Many kinds of plants and animals large and small make their home in this priceless living laboratory.
