Coin Description
The Story
The Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park in Vermont is the only national park dedicated to conservation. Conservation is the care and protection of natural resources for future use.
The park was the home of George Perkins Marsh, who was one of America’s first conservationists. Later, the park was the home of Frederick Billings, who was also a famous conservationist.
The most recent owners, Laurance S. and Mary F. Rockefeller gave the land to the American public. In 1992, the land became a national park, dedicated to conservation.
